This year, we are proud to support Ikamva Labantu’s Afternoon Angels programme with much-needed coats.
The Afternoon Angels is a group of incredible women, mothers and foster mothers, who open their homes daily to local children to provide a place of safety where they can receive a nutritious daily meal, emotional support, and a safe space to play while they wait for their parents to return from work.
“Dear Marco, Thank you for the wonderful donation of coats distributed amongst Ikamva Labantu’s Afternoon Angels programme.”
In March all Ikamva Labantu’s programmes shut down and we initiated a massive feeding and psychosocial assistance project. This wide-scale project reached up to 130 000 township residents per month. While continuing with our food assistance we are now in a phase of recovery, gradually opening some of our programmes and after many months of no contact, children are once again feeling the natural excitement and thrill of being with their friends and experience the care of the Afternoon Angels.
Street soccer has commenced at 10 sites, providing a wonderful, COVID-manageable opportunity for children to foster creativity, quickness of thought and ball skills. In these underserved areas where playing space is limited street soccer is an ideal sport.
